Nora

My mouth on Galley’s skin exceeds every expectation I’ve had of making out with a guy while straddling his dangerous, but cool dirt bike.

His skin is warm. I lick. Salty. Warm and salty his skin. Wet from my mouth. I close my eyes and moan. I want more. Need more.

I twirl my tongue on his warm skin. Drag my nose along his neck. Lift my butt off the seat and press my nose into his hair.

He smells divine. A mix of sweat and the outside air. I bury my face deeper into his dark locks. Dig my fingers into his shoulders. Inhale another full breath, unable to get enough of his scent.

“Nora, babe.”

His voice is raspy. Full of need. I sit and look at him through hooded eyes. Stare at his mouth. Have this sudden urge to tongue the corners. He watches me. Takes note of my gaze stuck on his mouth. Galley clears his throat. Lowers his eyes.

“I’m getting a cramp in my leg sitting here. How about we check out the river? Maybe see us some big fishes? Water level’s gotta be low with the heat we’ve been getting and no rain in sight.”

I’m ready for round two and he would rather see fish? Exhaling a soft breath, I let go of his shoulders and slide off the dirt bike.

“I’m horrible at the tasting thing, aren’t I?”

I don’t look at him. Don’t want to see the disappointment in his eyes.

“I’m sorry I’m not as experienced as the girls you’ve been with. This tasting thing is a bad idea and won’t happen again.”

“It’s not, Nora. Believe me, I dig your hands and your mouth on me, but you see, I’ve got this boner here, and riding with it is gonna be uncomfortable AF, so I was hoping to distract you by changing the subject, and walking it off.”

My brows rise to my hairline. He’s turned on. I’ve been turning Galley Rutherford on since the night we met.

“You won’t need to walk it off. We’ll talk your one-eye down.”

“Talk my one-eye down?”

That panty-melting lopsided smile of his.

“Nora, sweetheart, you are something.”

Beaming, I get back on the dirt bike, drape my arms over his shoulders, and stare deep into his eyes. “What was your answer on Professor Lewis’s paper?”

“A firm no.”

“Why is that?” I grab the front of his jacket and pull him close. Rub my nose on his. We’re forehead to forehead.

“I don’t believe in love.”

“Not at all?”

“A bunch of mumbo jumbo shit.”

“Because of your parents or the girl that screwed you over with another guy?”

“My parents, okay? I saw what my dad went through. Love is messy. Complicated. Effed up.”

“I completely agree with you.”

“You do?”

“Uh-huh. So…what do you see when you look into my eyes?”

“Complicated. Private. Strong-willed beneath your quietness. Kind-hearted. A woman on a mission when she wants something bad enough.”

“I am?”

“Yeah. Last night, when we found out from Xander Ryan was hurt, you marched right up to Asher’s door and yanked her the fuck out, knowing time was of the essence.
